American regulators decided to take control of cryptocurrencies due to the fact that the authorities elude the market with a volume of $ 1.5 trillion, the billionaire believes.
The administration of US President Joe Biden may soon move to stifling the cryptocurrency market, Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska wrote in his telegram channel (Forbes estimates his fortune at $ 4.7 billion, since 2018 Deripaska has been under US sanctions).
“Bankrupts overseas got nervous: US regulators want to take control of the cryptocurrency market,” Deripaska wrote.
According to him, American regulators decided to take control of the crypto market due to the fact that the $ 1.5 trillion market is slipping away from the authorities. The authorities can use these funds to refinance the “overwhelming debt” of the US federal budget, Deripaska said.
The billionaire referred to the words of the acting head of the Office of the Comptroller of the United States of America (OCC) Michael Hsu that so far everything comes down to coordination between agencies.
“Let’s see how soon Biden’s team will move from“ coordinating ”the cryptocurrency market to stifling it,” said the billionaire.
Earlier, the head of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Gary Gensler, during a hearing in the US House of Representatives, called for the development of a regulatory framework for the functioning of cryptocurrency exchanges. In his opinion, this must be done to regulate the work with digital assets in the United States.
