Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from the Servant of the People faction, Dmytro Gurin , told the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPK) about the theft of his “cold” cryptocurrency wallet, which contained a large amount of bitcoin, writes ” Word and Deed ” with reference to the department.
The stolen purse, the newspaper notes, “lay” 42 Bitcoin, which, according to the declaration of income for Gurin 2020, belonged to the wife of the deputy.
In the declaration, the value of the cryptocurrency was estimated at 22.5 million hryvnia, or about $ 800 thousand (at the bitcoin rate at the beginning of December 2020), at the current exchange rate, the cost of 42 bitcoin is about $ 2 million.
Dmytro Gurin claims that on April 21 of this year, attackers stole his car, in which there was a “cold” wallet with bitcoin. The deputy provided NAPK with a document, according to which the police in Kiev are investigating the case of theft of a car.
Hot wallets are wallets that have a permanent connection to the Internet.

Cold wallets store cryptocurrency without an Internet connection, so there is practically no risk of being hacked.
