Payment company PayPal will launch a service for buying, storing and selling cryptocurrencies in the UK this week, CNBC reports .
According to the publication, this is the first extension of the PayPal cryptocurrency service, which is currently only available to US residents. To launch a cryptocurrency service, the company is working with British regulators.
“Everything worked out very well in the USA. We expect everything to be fine in the UK as well, ”said José Fernández da Ponte, PayPal General Manager for Blockchain, Crypto and Digital Currencies.
After the launch of the PayPal crypto service in the UK, its residents will be able to buy Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum and Litecoin in the amount of £ 1 or more.
UK users will also have access to educational content and will be able to track digital asset courses in real time.
In July, PayPal increased the weekly limit on the purchase of cryptocurrency for some US clients to $ 100,000. Previously, users could purchase digital assets for an amount not exceeding $ 20,000.
In May, the payment company allowed users to withdraw cryptocurrency to third-party wallets.
PayPal customers from the United States had the opportunity to pay with cryptocurrency back in March this year.
Digital coins are converted to fiat at the time of payment. US users gained access to cryptocurrency through PayPal services in November 2020.
