The State Hermitage will issue a limited series of NFT tokens with digital copies of paintings from its collection, To this end.
The museum began cooperation with Binance NFT, a marketplace for one of the largest crypto exchanges in terms of trading volume.
The works will be available at the end of August this year, according to a joint message from the Hermitage and Binance.
NFT tokens are unique and not divisible. Such tokens are used to confirm ownership of an object; they cannot be replaced without the consent of the owner.
The series of works consists of such works as “Madonna Litta” by Leonardo da Vinci, “Judith” by Jojone, “Lilac Bush” by Vincent Van Gogh, “Composition VI” by Wassily Kandinsky, “Corner of the Garden at Montgeron” by Claude Monet.
For each painting, two copies of NFT have been created: one will be kept in the Hermitage, and the second will be sold on the marketplace in an auction format. All proceeds from the sale will go to the State Hermitage Museum.
Each NFT is signed by the general director of the museum, Mikhail Piotrovsky. The new tokens will be presented at the NFT art exhibition to be held at the Hermitage this fall.
