Altcoins created for fun

Tokens in support of Trump and Putin, the world’s first “fair ICO” and a coin that will help Vitalik Butertin get in shape. All about comic tokens in one material

At the end of January this year, the cryptocurrency community turned its attention to Dogecoin again. This token was jokingly created in 2013 by an Adobe programmer and enthusiast who came to his rescue. Since that time, the altcoin has not developed in any way, and one of its developers admitted at all that he got rid of the cryptocurrency in 2015. Billy Marcus revealed that he sold Dogecoin for the amount that can buy a used Honda Civic car. Over the past six years, altcoin has risen in price by 315 110%. Today its capitalization is $ 6.49 billion.

Dogecoin owes its rapid growth in 2021 to Elon Musk, who actively began promoting the token on Twitter. The entrepreneur spoke out about the main problem of Dogecoin, offered money to large holders of a digital coin, and also bought several tokens for his son. Against the background of these statements, in just three days from January 27 to January 29, the value of Dogecoin increased by 1115% (from $ 0.0076 to $ 0.069). On February 8, the price of the coin set an all-time high at $ 0.087. Dogecoin is far from the only coin that was created for fun and attention.

Trumpcoin
In November 2016, Donald Trump won the US presidential election. Six months before that, Trumpcoin appeared on crypto exchanges. Until now, no one knows whether this token was created by the businessman’s PR specialists, or third parties decided to cash in on his name. The coin was developed on the PoS blockchain using the Blake algorithm and began trading at $ 0.0014.

Over the past five years, cryptocurrency has experienced several rapid ups and downs in value. The surge of interest in Trumpcoin came immediately after Trump’s election victory. On January 19, 2017, the altcoin reached its local high of $ 0.51. By March of the same year, the coin dropped in price to $ 0.05. The next growth was recorded a year later. On January 7, 2018, Trumpcoin renewed its all-time high at $ 0.87. According to Coingecko, in March 2021, the token is trading at $ 0.03. The main transactions with the coin take place on the SouthXchange exchange.

In August last year, two tokens were launched on the FD7 platform: Trumpwin and Trumplose. The coins were also traded on the Poloniex and C2CX exchanges. In the event of Trump’s victory, the value of the Trumpwin token was to rise to $ 1. If the businessman loses in the election, Trumplose should have risen in price to $ 1, and Trumpwin should have completely depreciated.

Putincoin
Putincoin developers have created a token to pay tribute to the Russian President Vladimir Putin and to support the Russian economy, it said in a white paper altcoin. The cryptocurrency was developed based on the Script blockchain. Putincoin started trading at $ 0.013 and in a few months reached its highest value in the entire history of $ 0.044. This happened on August 30, 2017.

By November of the same year, the altcoin price dropped to $ 0.008. After that, another phase of growth began. On January 9, 2018, the cryptocurrency rose to a local maximum of $ 0.037. Until September 2018, the decline in quotations continued. During this time, the value of the token dropped to $ 0.0002. Putincoin has traded at that level since then, and the coin has a market cap of $ 947k, according to Coingecko. You can exchange altcoin for bitcoin on the CREX24 crypto exchange.

USELESS ETHEREUM TOKEN
In 2017, an anonymous internet user issued his own token and held the world’s first “fair ICO” (initial coin offering). He stated that all token buyers will receive a pointless and useless digital currency. Anonymous honestly promised to spend all proceeds from ICO on himself. On the altcoin website, its creator several times recommends not buying a token. Despite the recommendations, the anonymous person managed to collect $ 302 thousand. According to Icoholder.com, the altcoin is now valued at $ 0.0025. The digital coin is not traded on crypto exchanges.

JESUS COIN
Another comic altcoin was created in 2017 on the ERC-20 protocol. The creators of JESUS COIN promised token holders “absolution of all sins” and protection from going to hell. One of the main goals of a digital coin is to decentralize the church. Already in 2018, the developers stopped supporting JESUS COIN and the popularity of the coin faded. Now it is not traded on any of the crypto exchanges. Icoholder.com estimates the value of the token at $ 0.000041, and the market capitalization at $ 672 thousand. It is noteworthy that the creators of the altcoin strongly discouraged Muslims, Jews and Buddhists from buying it.

FITVITALIK
The developers of this token wanted to help Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin get in good physical shape. The digital coin was also created in 2017 based on the ERC-20 protocol. For one Ethereum, 1000 FITVITALIK could be purchased. During the ICO, 33 Ethereum were collected. It was announced that these funds will be used to purchase a gym membership for Buterin, pay for a personal trainer, nutritionist and proper nutrition. Also, the developers of the digital coin claimed that they would buy special workout clothes for the creator of Ethereum. Today FITVITALIK is not supported by developers and is not traded on crypto exchanges.
