Visa, together with cryptocurrency startup BlockFi, will issue a credit card with a cashback in bitcoins. There is a waiting list on the project website for those wishing to receive a card. In order to be able to enroll in it, you must have a replenished account with BlockFi.
In January, anyone can apply for a new product, and they promise to start sending cards in the spring of 2021.
According to the terms of the new card from Visa, 1.5% will be returned from each operation. They will accumulate, after which they will be converted into bitcoins and transferred to the user’s BlockFi account.
The project offers a card with a credit limit, which will be replenished every month. No interest will be charged subject to timely refunds.
BlockFi promises a $ 250 welcome bonus in Bitcoin if the card spend exceeds $ 3000 in the first three months. Annual maintenance costs $ 200.
The project claims to be the first credit card in the cryptocurrency world. Initially, it will be available only in the United States, but in the future, the startup plans to enter new markets.
The card will be issued by Evolve Bank in cooperation with the Deserve startup.
In September, Swipe, owned by the largest by trading volume Binance, unveiled a Visacard that allows the holder to borrow funds using blockchain technology.
A product called the LendFi Visa Card works on the basis of decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols.
Also earlier, Binance announced plans to issue a payment card in Russia. At the same time, the head of the company, Changpeng Zhao, emphasized that the issue will depend on what kind of digital money regulation will be introduced in the country in the near future.
